Are there any reasons to be thankful in 2020? I’ve been struggling with what to write for my Thanksgiving post. As the world continues to orbit around the sun, we continue to navigate these lockdowns and quarantines the best we can. Some choose to pretend that nothing has changed, while others struggle to cope with all the changes. While I’ve worried and stressed over 2020, there have been a few things that I’m thankful for in 2020.
Husband

After a tumultuous end of 2019 and chaotic 2020, I’m thankful for Mr. C’s steadfastness. His personality grounds me as I spiral through the shortages, pandemics, protests, and election news. Perhaps we are still in the newlywed phase or that we didn’t have a big wedding to worry about, but we’ve been able to quarantine well with each other. With a new baby arriving in April 2021, I hope to continue to be partners on this journey through life together. I’m thankful for his continued support for everything and anything.
Douglas

After losing Norman, I wondered if I would get another dog to fill the void Norman left behind. On a whim, I waitlisted for a Cardigan Welsh Corgi at the Palmdale Animal Care Center. On June 25, 2020, I received a call from the shelter stated that two people said no to him, and I was last on the waitlist to adopt the little guy. After confirming the appointment time, our first meeting was while he was still groggy after his surgery. I didn’t get a good feel of his personality, but I said yes, regardless. Fast forward to the end of the year and my “cupeth runneth over”. I’m thankful for meeting Doug. I hope that we love him as much as he loves us.
Family & Friends

After moving out of the OC to the LA area, I struggled to adjust to my new life. I am grateful for KK’s emotional support during this time. As we get age, I’m at the stage of life where my friends and I slowly drift into their new circle of family and friends. 2020 has allowed us to take a look at what matters most in dire times. I’m thankful to my parents for their help during this transition period as I learn how to be a good mom. I’m thankful for the health of all my friends and family. I’m also thankful for everyone doing their best during these ‘unprecedented times’.
I’m most thankful for you, the reader, joining me as I begin my journey as a blogger in 2020.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Until next time,
Diana L.
