I received Rouge Dior lipsticks in #999 red and #683 Rendez-vous in the new satin formula for free from Influenster and Christian Dior in exchange for my honest review.
According to the official Christian Dior website, Rouge Dior is “[a] highly pigmented couture matte finish that never compromises on lasting comfort, whatever the intense matte or indefinitely sensual satin effect.” It claims 16-hr wear without drying lips. Formulated with natural floral ingredients, such as red peony, pomegranate flower, and shea butter to hydrate, protect, and smooth your lips.
I found the formula very comfortable to wear. It does not dry out like a lot of matte lipsticks. The application for both colors had a satin finish. The moisturizing elements gave my lips a slight volumizing effect. The case is metal, offering you a touch of personal luxury.
#683 Rendez-vous is described as a nude-rosewood. In natural lighting, it was a fantastic nude look on me. It was close to my natural lip color with no makeup. The nude color evened my lip color, giving me a moisturized and brighter lip look on my face. #683 Rendez-vous is not overpowering color, making it perfect for everyday wear. This color did not last through a meal, but the formula makes it enjoyable to reapply.
#999 red is Dior’s iconic signature shade. It was a smooth satin finish, giving me shine and color in one swipe. It looks like the red color leans warmer on my skin tone. #999 red survived really well through my grilled cheese sandwich lunch. The original luster faded a bit, but I still had a fantastic red-stained look with #999 red. It’s a sexy red that complemented my yellow/olive skin tone.
This is my first time doing swatches, so please forgive the lighting issues. I’m still trying to figure out how to use my mini ring light. My current winter skin tone is NC20, leaning to yellow undertones and blue veins. I’m currently wearing bareMinerals Barepro Performance Wear Liquid Foundation in Warm Light 07.
Valentine’s/Galentine’s Day is just around the corner. It is the perfect time to sport a red lip for date night or a date with yourself. Personally, I miss wearing lipstick. With all the mandated masks, it seems like lipsticks have been put on pause. I’m glad I was able to participate in the Dior VoxBox to try out Rouge Dior. Wearing lipstick will always bring a smile to my face.
